wishlist:

Hello people!  Today it has been hot hot hot in Sheffield - Autumn it seems has disappeared and Summer is back in full swing!  The parks are full of people having BBQ's and playing ball games.  Me and Floyd has our tea outside (which we didn't think would happen again this year). Super!

Anyways, I'm back here today with more items for my wishlist.  Check them out...

These pots are amazing!  They remind me of a character from 'Button Moon'.

I really love this photo-album from Paperchase.  I might have to add it to my Xmas list.

I'm amazed by this beautiful pop-up book called 'little tree' - found here.

Loving this simple yet classic skirt from Zara.

Also in love with this classic looking skirt from Spotted Moth - it's called the 'Annie Hall', one of my all time favourite films!

These pretty little Chelsea boots would go perfectly.

This print featuring pugs is just awesome - I must have it for our flat!

So the weekend begins... I have many plans and jobs to be getting on with.  Lets hope a hangover doesn't get in the way of any of them eh?

Macaroons

I've managed to cross another thing off my list of things to do before my next birthday... try macaroons!

Yum.

How was your Wednesday?  My internet was playing up yesterday, so I didn't manage to post Tuesday's tune - so I'll save it for next week.  Today has been really hot!  I can't believe how warm it is for the end of September - it's great! Hopefully it'll stay this way for the weekend as well.

Cheerio for now, Lois xx

One year

Today I am celebrating my one year blog anniversary.  Yep, it was one year ago today that I said hello to the world and wrote this post and since then I have learned a lot about the online community... although I still have a long way to go before I can say I know what I'm doing!  It's fun to read through some of my old posts and goals with hindsight...

...like this one about how much I wanted a pug - and now I have Betty!  Dream come true.

Or this one about when we had a snow day... time off work to play?  We were all children again.

January was when I started a few of my regular features such as the wishlist, inspired posts and the Sunday walk (which I need to do another of soon).  I also wrote this short but fun post about my friends cat.

February was my birthday and when I made my list (above).  My progress is ok - I've done about 18 (well started at least).  I'll post an update soon.

More features were born such as Home Envy and Girl Crush...

I still have a lot of ideas for this blog.  I want to post more things about my everyday life and my dreams and plans for my online shop.  I want to make more of an effort with my photography, and I'm going to make a new blog banner.  I want to post more pictures of my home, my city and myself.  I'm going to be brave and take more self-portraits.  This is all a learning process for me and I use this platform to experiment, so just as a forewarning - not everything will work!

There, now I've said it I've got to do it.

Blogiversary

(image found on weheartit)

I can't believe it... I was reading this post earlier on where it talks about someone celebrating their one-year blog anniversary, so I thought I'd check to see when my first post was on this blog and guess what - it's tomorrow!!  Completely by chance I have come across this bit of information, and now I don't know what to do with it.

I might hold some sort of give away, but it will be a bit of a last minute thing.  Has anyone any other suggestions?  All ideas are welcome :)

Inspired: Audrey Kawasaki

I discovered Audrey Kawasaki a few years ago when a friend of mine showed me some of her stuff online - I have loved her art ever since.  She has a definite mood to her work, and although she explores dark themes her pieces remain soft and feminine.

You can find more of her stuff on her website.

I hope your Wednesday has been fine.  The dark nights are definitely setting in and I'm feeling more and more wintery as the days pass by.  Time to start wrapping up in warm knits (or crochets) and blankets - I love blankets!

Cheerio :)

little peeks of me

Hi.  You may or may not have noticed that I don't post an awful lot of pictures of myself on this Blog.  I do try, but I'm not all that great at taking self-portraits and I feel a bit silly asking the boyf to take pictures of me - I just feel a little vain and self-conscious posing in front of someone.  Therefore I've decided to improve my skills and dedicate a little time to taking a good self-portrait.

As you can see I find it a lot easier taking pictures of 'bits' of me.  These are fine, but I'm finding that the majority of my self portraits end up being like one of the above (also see my profile picture to the left!).

I like reading blogs where I can see what the person looks like, so I should make it my mission to add more (good) photos of myself to this one.  I need to invest in a remote for my SLR camera, but in the meantime I will have to make do with the timer function and arms-length shots.

If you are wanting to do something similar, I have read a couple of good posts on this very subject here and here - take a look, they offer some great advice.

Cheerio for now :)

Girl crush: Gwen Stefani

This girl is just so cooooool!  I've had a crush on ol' Gwen since the days of 'No Doubt' when I used to prance around my bedroom singing my heart out and pretending to be her.  I still think she's awesome (and with the cutest kids!).  There's no doubt she has amazing style (ha - see what I did there), and I still stick on some of her pop-tunes every now and again and have a sing-along session and a boogie - B.A.N.A.N.A.S!!

Love her!  She's such fun.

Anyway, today I've been trying to catch up with old projects.  I had to undo and restart a (secret) crochet project today as it wasn't turning out the way I wanted it to... I hate doing that, but I can be a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to things like that - especially if they're things for other people (which this is).  I will show you the finished product when the time comes (it's for my step-sis who's having her baby in 3 weeks!! *hint*).

How has your Wednesday been?

Tuesday's Tune: Caravan Palace

Today I went back to work after having 5 days off, so I'm feeling a little glum.  For that reason I'm going to stick on a tune to cheer me up a bit and get me feeling motivated to crack on with some crocheting.  So the tune I've picked is this little number by Caravan Palace.

Has it got you dancing?  It always gets me tapping my toes :)

Great, so now I'm off to do a bit of crocheting whilst watching one of my favourite programmes of the moment... 'The Great British Bake Off'.  Mmm, pies!

anniversary

We're back from our mini-break down in Axminster.  I took Floyd for a meal at the 'River Cottage Canteen' - Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's restaurant.  It was amazing!  We ate some really tasty grub.  We also took a day trip to Lyme Regis - a sweet little seaside town on the Jurrasic coast.  Here are a few of my instagram snaps of the day...

It was such a lovely weekend, and the perfect way to celebrate our 5 years together (yup 5!).  Back to work tomorrow though - boo!

I hope your weekend was lovely too.  I'll be back tomorrow with a tune for Tuesday, so get your ears and your dancing feet ready.

Moustache Magnets

Shop update - I've added more..!

You can see them properly (or buy some if you like) here.  I have them in my kitchen at the moment - they're a great addition to my fridge.  I love adorning the fridge with all sorts of pictures and postcards, and funky magnets are the best thing to help me do that!

I'm going away tomorrow for a mini-break, so won't be back to say hello until Monday.  I hope you have a smashing weekend :)

wishlist:

Hello people!  As promised I'm back with some new items that have been added to my wishlist.  Here goes...

These felt pugs are ace!  Not sure which colour I would choose though...

I've wanted one of these Roberts Revival digital radio's for a while now - I'm definitely going to save up for one, and definitely in this colour!

I need a new coat for Winter and this one from Topshop is tickling my fancy.

This gorgeous cardigan would be much appreciated by me in the coming chilly months!

I love Charley Harper (I have his calendar) but I would also love this memory game.

Oh my!  I must have both of these amazing sleeping bags - how cool!?

This tiny cloud necklace is really sweet - I have a bit of a thing for clouds.

Oh and with all that excitement it's time for my bedtime!  Will be back soon, goodnight lovelies :)
